Thus, Pantone AR was born, an augmented reality plugin for young and incoming designers. The extension would connect young creatives to an on the go pocket color studio.

Time Line ||

January 15th - March 4th 2018

Reopened july 20th 2020 - present

Objective ||

The objective of Pantone AR is to captivate the attention of young designers and provide them with a free library of Pantone colors. The touchpoint will offer designers with an augmented reality interactive platform that perceives and extracts colors from the world around them; creating an infinity number of Pantone colors to be used in future works.

The Problem ||

Most Pantone products are not always accessible to creatives because they can be heavy, occupy space, and are expensive.  “80% of human experience is through the eyes." We need to make color accessible to all designers.

The Market ||

The augmented reality touchpoint will attract new and younger designers to a world of color. Along with and audience of users who may not be able to afford Pantones products due to their high costs.

Stage 3 || Create a Prototype

Pantone AR is an augmented reality plug-in that can be downloaded to any digital device. The touch-point provides the designer with an augmented interactive space in which will showcase the power of color as a design tool. Pantone AR will access the users’ camera and will blur the lines between the world and color with a Pantone color recognition tool. Color Capture is Pantone AR main tool, where users can explore their surrounding area and extract beautiful and accurate colors to be used for their personal design works.
